1Fictional sampleA letter from our director
Dear friends, this was the year Riverbend stopped being a Tuesday-night program and became a neighbourhood habit. We opened three new sites, two of them in public libraries that had asked us for years. Our volunteers gave more hours than ever, and for the first time most of our learners came because a friend told them to. We also learned what didn’t work: Saturday mornings were too quiet, so we moved them to Thursday evenings and attendance doubled. None of this happens without you. Every gift on page 7 paid for something specific — books, bus passes, a projector for Eastside. In 2027 we want to reach 1,500 learners and train twenty new tutors. Thank you for reading this, and for being part of the year.

Story one
Ana’s first library card
Ana came to the Northside site to help her son with homework. Six months later she was the one asking for a library card — and reading the forms at the clinic herself. She now volunteers one evening a month at the welcome desk.
“I wanted to stop pretending I’d forgotten my glasses.”
4Fictional sampleStory two
Tuesday nights at Eastside
Eastside started with four tables and a borrowed projector. By December it was the busiest room in the building on a Tuesday: twelve tutors, thirty learners, and a waiting list we are working through in January.
“I read the bus timetable to my daughter on the way home.”
